Artistic or Visual Design: Without a Paddle

The set and or location of the film is very important to give it the right feel for the audience. I think that they needed to film on set and on location. They filmed on set for the stunts and other visual effects they could not achieve on location. It was important however to be on location to get the feel of the story line and make the audience feel like they were there with them on the mountain. The costumes were chosen by what type of personality each character had in the film. It distiguished who had what role and makes it easier to follow the story when you can have that color association with each character. I believe that they used natural lighting for most of this movie. It works well because they are trapped on a mountain outdoors and the lighting helps get the feel of that. The director is trying to make it as real as possible I think so it all flows well once it is put together.
