Sicko
I felt that this was an effective way to look at the heath issue in a way that may not change peoples' minds but get them to see a different perspective on the issue. I liked this documentary because he gives his opinion so that it is straight forward and causes conflict with people and also has a good point to it. It was well planned out I thought and it played out well with the way it was presented. Even though it didn't change my mind it still made me think about how our country is run and how we really are afraid of the government. This film was extrodinary in the way it showed how we can change the way we are governed with a little extra support from the people. I feel that in a way this film showed how we as a country are trying so hard to not be socialized but we are still a socialized people underneath it all. Overall I feel that this movie is a great insight to who we are as a country and as individuals.

The Full Monty
This is a film about how things can change rapidly and the measures that people can and will take to get their lives back together. It is a comdey and is extremely funny, but it does have a seriousness underneath all the jokes. It may be an unconventional way to work through your problems but it does work out in a way that the audience can relate even if it may be a little bit of the wall. It was a good movie and I liked the way they made something so unexcepted by people today into something that touched people. It was a risky move to do it about stripping because it talked down upon by so many. Though it was risky it worked and they made a terriffic movie about going all the way for what you need and want. So more people should learn how to go after what you can get by going "the full monty".

Amelie
The movie Amelie had French subtitles which I was a bit weary about it but it wasnt as bad as I expected. I still however didnt like the overall movie I though it was a little to strange for my taste. It was just not my style it didnt make me feel engaged in the movie or even interested in the story behind the filming.I felt that this movie was kind of irrelavent at times. It was very sparatic with its story line it jumped around alot and i wasnt very sure which story line i was supposed to follow right away. The film was driven by symbolism throughout the movie to keep it going. Amelie is a different person with a different way of doing things in her life. She has a perspective that others find weird. Amelie seems like a deep person one who looks at people for who they really are not just first impressions. She goes through a lot while she is growing up and is pretty much selcuded since she was little. She finally realizes what she can do when a man helps see how she is wasting her life by being over conscious of the decisions she makes. The movie I think is about seeing people for who they are not thier idiosyncries. People may be different but we all have something we are good at and everyone deserves a chance to be happy with thier lives.

Artistic or Visual Design: Without a Paddle
The set and or location of the film is very important to give it the right feel for the audience. I think that they needed to film on set and on location. They filmed on set for the stunts and other visual effects they could not achieve on location. It was important however to be on location to get the feel of the story line and make the audience feel like they were there with them on the mountain. The costumes were chosen by what type of personality each character had in the film. It distiguished who had what role and makes it easier to follow the story when you can have that color association with each character. I believe that they used natural lighting for most of this movie. It works well because they are trapped on a mountain outdoors and the lighting helps get the feel of that. The director is trying to make it as real as possible I think so it all flows well once it is put together.
Raiders of The Lost Ark
This film I feel is very good because of its theme and story line. I liked the movie and thought that the director shot it very well. The movie made you feel like it could really happen and that made it realistic and more exciting for the audience to watch. Roger Ebert's article suggests that the movie has an underlying theme about being a Nazi. I too feel that the movie is potraying them as cruel, selfish, and uncompastionate and it does form a very good "bad guy" that the audience will despise throughout the movie. This movie has symbolism aswell, it is dealing with ancient artifiacts related to God. The ark itself is a symbol of power, grace, and forgiveness. This movie has a lot of ups and downs and is a great adventure for anyone to see.

Good Will Hunting
This is an extraordinary film I think anyways. It had a good story line and a good theme. It was a story about someone not realizing what they have until the last minute and going after it. The article ' Two thumbs up, five stars and an Oscar?' states that it is about a misunderstood and undiscovered genius. Will Hunting does not care if he is talented because it comes easy to him and won't allow others to try and push him into a life where he supposedly "belongs" as they try to tell him. He came from a troubled childhood and that is what he knows it reality and cant contemplate the fact that there are other paths that he can take instead of working construction for the rest of his life. He sees nothing wrong with the way he is living and doesn't want to be cast out because he can absorb knowledge the way he does. I liked this movie and feel that it has a good point behind it, my point of it may be different than yours but it is still a point that is made.

On the Waterfront
This is a revolutionary movie because of the history that comes before it. It generated alot of controversy relating to previous happenings with the films director. Waterfront is a film about defiance and respect at the same time. While conflict that occurs in the movie is between everyone in the town it is set in. Terry Malloy ( Marlon Brando) has a love for his fellow co-workers in the mob but also for a Edie. Blind by love Terry has a revolation as to who he is and why he treats people the way he does. It is a movie about a journey or a transformation if you will on someone's character and how it changes his world and everyone's around him aswell.

Casablanca
A legend in films Casablanca is one of the most quoted movies of all time. A lot of the expressions we use today are from this picture. The classic line " Here's looking at you kid." has been one of the most memorable lines in history. I believe this movie is telling the most universal story which any audience can comprehend. A love triangle between three people, who have very different view points about almost everything. Who are constantly reminded of their past. The main character Rick is often reminded of his lost love when hearing a certain song. From the article ' Play it Again and Again' it is said that Casablanca is the most familiar film in American history. Which i believe to be true, it is a wonderful epic movie about love, war, and resolution.
